New Medical Thriller by award winning author Jay Hartlove: Daughter Cell
Concord, CA - Jay Hartlove, Dark Connections Revealed, announces the release of Daughter Cell, the second thriller in the Isis Rising Trilogy. The first novel in the series,The Chosen, was selected Best Thriller by the Independent eBook Awards 2012.
How far can you genetically alter someone before she becomes someone else? Before she loses her soul?
Leading genetic researcher Randolph Macklin wakes up in Malaysia to find a four month gap in his memory, his wife dead, and his daughter in a coma. As he and his psychiatrist Sanantha Mauwad unravel the mystery, they find nothing and no one are what they appear to be. Ancient cults collide with cutting edge science in this tale of too much power driven by too much passion.

Welcome to the second Sanantha Mauwad mystery. Whereas The Chosen is an occult thriller about revenge and redemption, Daughter Cell is a medical thriller about loss and forgiveness. To be sure, it is also a supernatural tale, as are all of the books in this series. Again the detective is our Voodoo practicing psychiatrist who combines modern medical understanding with deep spirituality.
Jay Hartlove’s books draw connections between scary aspects of our real world. The Chosen connects Sammael to Exodus and Voodoo to the religion of the ancient Egyptians. Daughter Cell connects cloning with acupuncture and the soul. Among the connections Sanantha must reconcile while solving this medical mystery is how poisonous fugu pufferfish is eaten in Asia as an aphrodisiac, while back in her homeland of Haiti it is used to create zombie slaves. The story includes altered state memory loss, cultural suspicions, religious devotion, secret trysts, and Silat black magic martial arts.
