MIND OF THE DEMON: A Memoir of Motocross, Madness, and the Metal Mulisha
Los Angeles, CA. - Who is Larry “Link” Linkogle? If you ask the millions of fans of Motocross, most would call him the creator of extreme freestyle racing, a world record holder, and the world’s most dangerous man. If a cat has nine lives, Larry would have even more.
Larry’s book, Mind of the Demon: A Memoir of Motocross, Madness, and the Metal Mulisha, is a story of self-destruction and redemption— a cautionary yet inspiring journey.

Before he turned into “The Demon,” Larry was a child prodigy racer who turned pro at age fifteen, the youngest in the circuit. He was a daredevil and a rebel who took chances most people never dream of. Growing increasingly disillusioned by corporate restrictions in the racing industry, he quit the sport in a wildly spectacular display during a national event.
Larry went on to help create what is now one of the most popular extreme sports in the world, Freestyle Motocross (FMX), and he founded Metal Mulisha, a multi-million dollar business, and the preeminent gear and lifestyle brand for motocross and mixed martial arts. The man may risk his life with his bike, but his business acumen turned into a very profitable investment.
Nothing or no one has ever stopped Larry. As Vin Diesel's stunt double in the film XXX, Larry suffered serious head injuries after a stunt went wrong and he collided with a helicopter. His ACL snapped, he experienced extreme head trauma and his shoulder separated from the resulting fall. Who the hell survives that? We’ll give you one guess.
Larry’s grit and determination was stronger than ever, as he came back from that horrific injury in 2005 to set the world’s long distance record for the 250CC Motorbike class by jumping 255.4 feet. Taking extreme and death defying stunts to the limit led to injuries (he lost his spleen in a crash), and painkillers. Eventually, he was down and out – erratic and abhorrent behavior became part of his every day existence. The downward spiral saw Larry drug and gunrunning, participating in underground fist fighting, taking secret midnight missions to Mexico, and thugging with his buddies.
His fast track to happiness and success was lost to a decade of rage and hatred, jeopardizing everything - including his life.
Tired of his failing health, lack of control, self-loathing and disappointing his family, he realized it was time to get his life back on track. No longer could he sit back and watch others achieving what should have been his triumphs.
Mind of the Demon is a gripping, unsettling, and moving read, written with unflinching honesty and candor. In it, Larry shows how it’s possible to lose sight of everything - but through will and determination - get it all back.
And through all his trials and tribulations, he never sold out nor strayed from his fans. Larry shall always remain, “The Demon,” the gnarliest SOB you’ll ever meet.
