Touching Truths of Military Service Laid Bare in Newly Released Memoir, Only a Soldier Understands
In his deeply personal memoir, Only a Soldier Understands, author and former soldier Dr. Clay Lifto shares the successes, failures, frustrations and triumphs known to only a few good men.
Fayetteville, NC – There's a bond of brotherhood only a relative few can truly appreciate: the ups and downs of military service. With the newly released Only a Soldier Understands, author and former soldier Dr. Clay Lifto reflects on both the extraordinary and ordinary battles in the life of an American soldier.
Nobody understands what it feels like to be a soldier except another soldier. Shared as an autobiography, the book delves into Lifto's military experiences, allowing the reader to compare their own feelings and frustrations, successes and failures in the military to Lifto's very personal reflections.
Told chronologically in a series of 37 brief vignettes, Only a Soldier Understands shares tales from the life of a typical soldier, from the decision to join the military to the quest for respect and the need to achieve something important, to the good and bad bosses every soldier encounters. There are even suggested chat questions and a clever “Note from the Commander” at the end of each short vignette.
