Best Selling Author Releases New Psychological Thriller: Night Terrors
Sherman Oaks, CA - From novelist Dennis Palumbo, a Hollywood screenwriter turned psychotherapist, comes Night Terrors (Poisoned Pen Press). The third release in Palumbo’s critically-acclaimed series featuring psychologist and police consultant Daniel Rinaldi, Night Terrors is available wherever fine books are sold.
Publishers Weekly hails Night Terrors as “riveting,” and adds that Palumbo “ratchets up the stakes in this psychological thriller [that] maintains emotional complexity, ” while Kirkus Reviews says, “Palumbo’s thrillers are strictly for late at night and for readers who have no pressing engagements early the next day.” BookList adds: "Palumbo uses all his professional experience to craft short, action- and tension-filled chapters and insightful sketches of people traumatized by violence," while Library Journal cuts right to the chase: “Night Terrors…is thrilling.”

Stephen Jay Schwartz, best-selling author of Boulevard and Beat calls Night Terrors“A thrilling plunge into the mind of an obsessed killer” while Edgar-winning, NYT best-selling author Thomas Perry raves, “Don’t miss Night Terrors. It’s his best yet.” Thomas Sawyer, best-selling author of The Sixteenth Man, says, "A brilliant, gripping emotional journey, full of the great characters and satisfying, unexpected turns we’ve come to expect from author/shrink Dennis Palumbo."
About Night Terrors: After spending 20 years inside the heads of the nation’s worst serial killers, retired FBI profiler Lyle Barnes is mentally falling apart. Psychologist and police consultant Daniel Rinaldi is called in to treat Barnes, whose terrifying nocturnal visions cause him to wake up screaming. Barnes, however, is also the target of an unknown assassin whose mounting list of victims paralyzes the city. Hidden for his own protection by his former colleagues in the Bureau, Barnes secretly escapes, drawing Daniel and a joint FBI-Pittsburgh PD Task Force into a desperate manhunt for the missing agent.
But in the midst of a race against time to find Lyle Barnes before the killer does, a second—and seemingly unconnected—case competes for Daniel’s attention. The mother of a youthful confessed killer, now in jail in nearby West Virginia awaiting trial, is convinced that her son is innocent, and appeals to Daniel for help. Against his better judgment, Daniel becomes involved, and soon suspects that much about the case is not as it appears.
As he digs deeper, Daniel uncovers an unexpected web of murder and madness that not only connects the two investigations, but also puts his life at risk. Complicating matters further is his deepening relationship with the beautiful Detective Eleanor Lowrey. Could the danger closing in around Daniel threaten to ensnare her as well?
Set against the backdrop of a brutal Pittsburgh winter, Night Terrors is a chilling, fast-paced new thriller that will leave readers gasping for breath. What makes the thriller even more timely is that the sleep disorder called Night Terrors is, for the first time, on the rise in adults, due to the pressures and uncertainty of contemporary life. The realty of terrorism, natural disasters and a faltering economy, suppressed by most adults in waking life, is now invading their sleep. And the trend is growing…
